Jeff Smith is an NYC-based playwright and composer.
His plays and musicals have been developed and performed at The Players Theatre, Primary Stages ESPA, The PlayGround Experiment, Cone Man Running Productions, Kitchen Dog Theater, and the New York Theater Festival. His plays have been described as “hilarious,” “dangerous,” and “deeply relatable.”
As a composer, he is the founder and driving force behind the chamber music group the Ferrous Ensemble, with whom he’s released two full albums and various EPs and singles. His theater music includes the concert musical That Thing Inside and the operetta Burn Control.
He was educated at Juilliard, the Dramatist Guild Institute, Primary Stages ESPA, and Roundabout Theatre. He is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild, Opera America, the PlayGround Experiment, and the Viola da Gamba Society of America and a board member of Contemporaneous.
